For those Grey Nomads down South and thinking of making their way North for the Winter. The day time temps are still in the high 20's and touching 30 at times with the over night temps around 14/15. Very dry and the locals will tell you that the humidity has been above average this year, thankfully has disappeared in the last week or so. Local Council CP"s at Hervey Bay being Pialba Beachfront, Scarness Beachfront and Torquay Beachfront are filling up by the day with Pialba at the 3rd row and spilling into the 4th row. While Hervey Bay is not every one's cup of tea and a little expensive the climate, the beach, the diverse shopping with clubs/pubs/others catering for seniors particularly cheap meals makes this location on the Fraser Coast very attractive. We have had 2 months at Childers on 6 acres of orchard in the very red soils. Bananas, pineapples, passion fruit, tomatoes, avo's, to name a few. The weather was consistent with day temps of 30+ with over night temps of 20. No variation for 2 months and very little rainfall, thankfully we had access to a bore that utilized solar to power the pump. Between house sits we have spent time at Noosa, Cooroy and Maryborough utilizing camps at Maryborough (Showground & Cherry Nomad RV Park). We have a further 2 weeks plus at Hervey Bay before heading to Brisbane to camp at Watson Park Convention Centre (Seventh Day Adventist Church). This will give us an opportunity to store our van at $8 per week while we head O/S to do a Scenic River Cruise. Back in July to head further North as the winter temps go down a few degrees with the destination being Cairns. Will then do a house sit at Mena Creek for August before heading back in the direction of the Nations Capital (house sit)and hopefully the last dregs of winter. You have gotta love the "life style" and Queensland even though it has been a little hot at times, the experiences, the opportunities and the people have been just first class.
Oh so that makes me feel happy for you not so much me sound like your enjoying life right now stay healthy and continue have fun
Woody

JohnR We have also been in the Wide Bay area since Christmas mainly house sitting. Will stay here for a few months yet. Presently at Maryborough. Agree with you - facilities for seniors are good. Cheers Alice
Thanks to Wood & Sue, Alice and Jules for your comments.I was not trying to put the emphasis on our life style or how we are enjoying our 3rd year of house sitting this great country. More so our current location, the weather/climate, opportunities for Grey Nomads in this part of Sunny Qld and overall a report from some one out there on the road like many other good nomads that are doing something similar. A vast contrast to the ever popular negative posts that only puts people off side.
Enjoyed reading about how you spent and are going to spend your next fews months, wonderful.
Ourselfs, we are not on the road full time but not home to often.
This year so far, Australia Day departed from Brisbane headed slowly south via friends, family before reaching Victoria, spending time in Ecucha, Greens Lake and over to Gippsland area getting home at the end of March, laurieton for the last week of April and few days into May. Then on the 10th May headed oversea visiting our son in Austria for 3 weeks, then we will be doing cruises though The Baltic Sea and Norway home mid July.
Home for perhaps 6 weeks then head out in the van where ever we feel like going for a couple of months and then home for Christmas.
Oh dear! then in the new year we will need to start again. Its great life hope we never weaken.
Can't wait to get out and about in Hervey Bay as soon as my health allows.
So much to see and do from here through to Maryborough and I've seen nothing so far.
