Fly Net Hats

We will be heading up into the "Bush Fly Country" North of Perth shortly,

Remembering our last visit into the Gorge Country near Kalbarri, and those pesky Flies, I decided to hunt through "Flea Bay" and found some very expensive Fly Net's complete with hat,

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Insect-Bee-Mosquito-Fly-Net-Mesh-Head-Face-Fishing-Hiking-Hat-Protector-Cap-/262404321268?hash=item3d18842ff4:g:3AIAAOSw~oFXHaI3

I don't know how good they will be, as they are still in the post some-where.

but with the huge out-lay of about $2.00 each, !!!

I sure hope they will keep the pesky thing out of the nose and eyes. Time will tell  !!!

Hello Kiwijims

I have some, similar from EBay, and I can confirm that they work for me
Enjoy your trip, without the flies in your face

Tongue in cheek
$1.99 with postage, they must have either saw you coming, or thought that you were one of the last, of the big spenders

I paid around $1.50 (about 4 years ago)

If they don't work out with the flys you could use them as yabby nets.

Hello Dougwe

I know nothing of fishing

But...

Tongue in cheek

Would the yabbies see them?

They would look like camouflaged nets to me

You'll have to bring the twins to the West Dougwe,  just to see how big we get the Yabbies over here,

On a good day those hats wouldn't hold ONE single Western Yabbie !!!  LOL

The more camouflage the better Tony, they go for the bait you put in the net.

Hello Dougwe

I will pay that one

There are certainly no flies on the fishermen, when it comes to using fly hats

And certainly no offence given or taken

LOL

Having spent three months working in the flinders ranges, these head nets are a sanity saver. What ever you decide, Go for it!

Or, spend the entire time inside your caravan.

Also of help are those cheap magnetic fly screen available from various "cheap as" shops. Anything you do to keep the flies out of the van is a benefit. We paid $10.00 for a set.

Another thing we had was called a "Shoo Away", a battery operated gadget with a lightweight "helicopter" blade with eyes on it that the flies did not like. If you put your hand in the blade when turning, it just stopped.  Powered by 3 triple A batteries from memory. Check them out: https://www.shooaway.com/

the fly nets can be bought from any camping shop as well - just drape over and existing hat.

It helps the locals to know youre not from the region and charge you more LOL

Seriously though, be aware it can affect your peripheral vision so be careful walking over rough ground (and don't drive with one draped over your face like some 50's movie starlet) overwise you may do a Pope and kiss the ground

Interesting. The term, "propeller head", comes to mind.
