They've changed the taste of an aussie icon

Does anyone else eat Shapes cheddar bickies,I bought a couple of packets the other day and bloody Arnotts have changed the recipe, they taste nothing like the originals.

I complained to Arnotts and they inform me that these are the new improved ones with extra flavour ,I told them that if card board was what they were aiming for then they nailed it.

I've posted my vote on Change.org to have Shapes changed back to the original recipe and joined the 20,000 others who are not happy.

What do ya's reckon?

Cheers

I guess they would have test marketed the short listed "new" flavours as well as the original and the one they chose was the one their population sample voted for. If there is a great demand for the original flavour, they could brand and market both original and new side by side to capture a greater share, if its economical to do so.

I recently did a market testing of food at McCains. One hour for one night per week for 6 weeks. Some nights lots of food and others it was a trip thru Macca's on the way home. One night it was 2 full frozen meals and one it was just two corn cobs.

Shut the front gate!

That's just as bad as if someone changed the taste of Vegemite.

If I remeber correctly, years ago Coke a Cola changed the taste of coke but reverted back to the original after many complaints.

Coke has had several attempts to get closer to Pepsi, and failed.

There are 3 things that make things tasty - fat, sugar and salt, and food manufacturers are being pressured into reducing all three. Salt reduced Soy Sauce! What's the point?

99% fat free means tasteless but with heaps of sugar or salt to retain some sort of taste. Lo Carbs usually means high something else that's not good for you.

Aren't the five food groups beer, chocolate, red meat, chips, and pizza with the lot? My tastiest foods.

I'll probably be branded a heathen here but I don't mind the "new and improved" Barbecue Shapes. Yes they look different and taste different but I like both the old and the new.

Nah. No heathen. I agree that sometimes new & improved are different but not necessarily not as good the original. Just look at Aldi and other in-house or no-brand stuff. Just as good as what they are taking off in most instances.

Some factories make different brands on different days. Sometimes the formula is slightly different and sometimes the good stuff first thing in the day goes into the brand name tin and the no-brand gets the stuff at the end of the day (baked beans being one of those products).

It's interesting to see when there is a recall in a particular factory that there are heaps of brands effected - from food to gas cookers.

The drink or did drink Twinings Afternoon Tea The one that Mr Rudd supported ( not know to at Time) They changed the taste but the only visible change was the colour of the packaging I complained to the hotline via email and they said that I could send them back so I did all four boxes , Yes you guessed it they sent me four new boxes but with the same taste and packaging as those I returned. Sometimes you have to wonder if they are really out there listening to the everyday consumer

Bloody unbelievable.

People are dying from cancer and car crashes, refugees are drowning, babies in Africa are starving and you lot are complaining about bloody biscuits and tea.

I know have confirmed why I don't usually attend Happy Hour. The depth of conversation is about half a millimetre.

I think this is all escapism. Need it to keep a sense of humour and take our minds of the more serious things.

And the refugees refused to eat food because they don't like the name of the product, distributed by Red Cross (don't like the actual red cross), not Halal

I was under the impression refugees ceased to be refugees when they left a place of safety they then became asylum seekers or illegal immigrants now back to the biscuits

People who take great risks seeking refuge must factor in a certain percentage who won't make it. That, unfortunately is how it is. Babies have been starving in Africa and other third world countries for years and continue to do so and this is very sad, it makes me wonder where the bulk of the monies collected actually ends up and angry at the people who skim the bulk of donations.

I think Australians are all suffering compassion fatigue I am 70 and have served in no less that 6 of the worlds hell holes as a full member of the ADF for over 30years I am also in the Gods waiting room with terminal lung cancer but I never whinge or discuss my situation, not even with fellow servicemen **** Happens .   As for your Refugees they can always go home and fight to re-establish their country.  Most if not all are economic refugees and have moved through or resided in a number of countries friendly to their situation before trying to get here . Those lost at sea I put down to collateral damage as one does in a war zones anywhere .

I can tell all, don't be conned by the faces of the  poor little kids ,kids they are not like your pampered  grandkids  those little faces we all  shed tears over can strip an AK47 or rocket launcher in the dark and reassemble it faster than I can and I was trained to do it .  Having seen suicide bombers  below the age of 7  I think the child  in that body has certainly left the building , doesn't matter the age of the person pulling the pin your still as dead.

Why are those born here so intent on destroying the way of life we freely share with them , if  they think there's is better life  in another place then go there with my blessing . No more fighting over who got at the ancestors goat nine centuries back, please I'm over it . Go live amongst them  in their homeland then  come  talk to me.

No problem with bringing them in but do the full  security checks first and if you can't clearly ID who's who they go back and the Dark  GREENS can like it or lump it.

Noted no one ever offers up their home address when  the bleeding hearts attend Save this or that  rallies .  I'm sure we could find 1 to 8 to fill up  and  share the spare bedroom room   but, don't forget once in you will   then  need to make room or move out  for those waiting on the family reunion scam.  Get one worker and 15 on welfare.   GOOD LUCK Australia

I would make further posts but I'm struggling with the description of Shapes Cheddar biscuits being an Aussie Icon.

Dame Edna is an Aussie icon, as is Shane Warne and that other sexpot, Alvin Purple, and the Opera House. But Shapes Cheddar biscuits? I don't think so.

haha - good to see Phantom has managed to wind people up yet again.

As an aside Arnotts received so many complaints they now intend to put them out in the original flavours - yep it made the main evening News on Channel 7.

What gets me is that we can have a terrorist attack killing 100s, a natural distaster and so forth, but the 1st thing they run on the 6pm TV news is bloody AFL highlights. Incredible !!!!!

Why would you bother to set your life goals so low that watching the 6pm news is a highlight?

It's a bit like aspiring to mediocrity.

Lighten up Phamtom life is far to short to sweat the small things that you can't excersie control over  If we don't engage with the world then the next step is one you don't want to take   It's the little tip bits of trivia and pour individual  sense of humour  that makes us so different and free spirited .  I watch the ABC only because I would find that I may be offering support to  to that waste of airspace  Home and Away.  Now that's a show that comes from the shallow end of the gene pool .

Biscuits,  I like Spicy Fruit  Pillows  not the Cherry ones if Mr Arnotts are listening there crap
