Towing caravan with mitsubishi (new model) Pagero Sport

Hi all,

As a new poster I originally  incorrectly posted this subject on the wrong thread so I am now righting that situation.

I am currently in yulara NT and have covered 2600 kms so far of approx a 11000 -12000 km

Journey with my new Pajero sport. I am keeping a log on fuel consumption and overall performance and will post the results todate as soon as I have time.

Ok I have finally put some figures together for fuel consumption for the new mitsubishi Pajero Sport together with some other observations.
Total distance travelled 3328 km warragul to mt ebenezer ( south of Alice Springs )
Distance with caravan 3093 towing van and 235 with no van.
Towing speed 94kmh according to odometer but 90 kmh according to navman.
Av fuel consumption 16.49 litres per 100 km with some steep hills and some significant head winds in places. I used drive mode as i found the paddles awkward to use and drive mode resulted in 8th gear rarely being attained Our route was warragul, ballarat, dunkeld, port augusta mt ebenezer and on to Alice springs where we are stopping for 2 weeks. I note the route taken as anyone that knows the area will know how hilly some parts are. The eco metre was more pessimistic than actual fuel consumption. The car had 3474 km on clock at start.

Me Again.
I ran out of spain previous post but importantly missed loaded van weight of 2300kg approx. Car produces excellent low down torque pulling from 1000rpm with no turbo lag apparent. With 7th gear running at approx 1800 rpm at true 90 kph and 8th gear running at approx 1600 rpm at 90 kph. I towed the van previosly with a 2013 glx manual triton which was lacking in comfort but averaged 14.62 litres per 100 km but approx 25% of 8500 km trip with no van attatched. I am hopeing the Pajero Sport will return an average of 15-15.5 litres per hundred kms when fully run in and should have a good indication after the current trip ends in early August. I am unhappy with the genuine mitsi towbar as the tongue is far too loose in the socket which seems way too large, and as my van has a towball weight of 285 kgs i feel a problem could be around the corner. I will post again on reaching Darwin in about a month.
