South Australian trip

Hi guys thanks for including me onto this forum this is my first post so i hope some one can give me a bit of advise. I am intending to have a look at the Eyre peninsular this winter with the hope of landing a few KG my wife can not travel in the 4x4 so she will be flying to port lincoln was wondering the better place to fish with a 3.8 meter tinny out of coffin bay or venus bay we will be parked at one or the other for a couple of weeks then i will be doing a slow trip back to perth solo with the van and boat and dog.

Welcome to the gang boab, enjoy here and out in the playground.

At least your wife will be at both ends for you both to enjoy thos KG together. I am not a fisherman so will leave it to the ones that are to pass on any info for you.

Keep Safe on the roads (and water)

I have a couple of friends who go to Venus Bay yearly to fish for the whiting. However if the wife is not a fisher person there would probably be more activities for her in Coffin Bay

Just back from the Eyre Peninsula. Venus Bay is the go with a tinny or just off the jetty from what I saw a few months ago. The jetty at Smoky Bay and Elliston in a tinny was good. Not a fisherman but the Eyre Peninsula from Ceduna to Fitzgerald Bay seemed the place to go. There are so many bays & inlets for safe fishing and too numerous to mention. Magic part of the country that I'd never visited before and was truly amazed.

PS: Note sure what the weather is like in Winter.

A good place to find the much prized KG Whiting would be offshore @ Farm Beach, 15 minutes or so from Coffin Bay. Beach launch, no problem with 4WD. Google should yield some GPS Coordinates as a starting point. Good luck!

Never seen so many trailers on a beach as Farm Beach. More than Venus Bay. Even a basic van park there. All dirt road there but reasonably straight, wide and as smooth as a baby's bum.
