Permit to camp at Aysons Reserve

Staying for a few days at Aysons Reserve near Elmore in central Victoria (just down the road from Greens Lake). Saw a sign on the amenities block saying that a permit is required to camp there. I rang the number supplied and was told they (local council) just wanted some details of people who were staying more than two days - name, address, phone number and vehicle rego - presumably so that council rangers would know who among the long stayers were genuine campers. No permit required or any fees payable.

Great spot, we hid from exorbitant park fees there over Easter last year.  Ended up staying a week or so.  Potable water freely available at the Rochester railway station.

We stayed there 2 years ago & took no notice of that sign just like everyone else camped there did. A nice spot in quiet off-peak times. RV CITY at holiday periods & public holidays.

After reading about Greens Lake and Aysons Reserve on the forum for a couple of years, we finally got to enjoy both spots; what beaut spots they are!

Our outdoor temperature transmitter liked Aysons so much that it decided to stay on when we packed up and left on April 28th. (Why do I need to go through my check list - we didn't unhitch, so she'll be right!)

If anyone found a 3" by 4" silver, rectangular, outdoor temperature transmitter lying around in the NW corner, we'd love to hear from you - we miss knowing how cold it is outside - has a big bearing on whether to get out of bed now, or later when it warms up.

Hopefully a GN has some good news for us.

We drove past and it was full so ended up yet again at Rochester CP. Very nice indeed and very friendly possums.
