Just for those that may own one of these that has a leaking heater core. I was asked by a friend that was quoted 6Hrs labour plus, to replace the leaking heater core. The original was an aluminium core, its been replaced with a brass/ copper one. The only info we could find on the internet was for American models, the Ausi ones are diferent. It did take us 7Hrs to do the job, & wasn't too bad to do. The battery needs to be disconnected. then remove the steering column. To get the shroud of the column the Key barrel needs removing. The key must be in the ON position, on the underside of the barrel is a hole with apin that needs to be pushed in to remove the barrel. The complete dash board then needs removing & tied back to the passenger seat. In the pictures theres a cover on the heater box to remove, then the heater box needs partialy removing to lift the core out & fit the new one. One tricky part is a nut behind the A/C box in the engine bay has to be removed, & there is only just enough room to fit your fingers in there. If you drop the nut/washer the only way to retrieve it, is make a flexible Magnetic pick up tool as in the picture using very strong 5mm magnet. Then re assemble the vehicle, saving quite a few hundreds of dollars (its a 2 person job as the dash is quite heavy) Also when the steering column is removed Do Not spin the steering wheel, it should be kept in a fixed position (We used masking tape) If the wheel is spun around you may damage/destroy the Clock Spring circuit for the Air Bag.
