I find it a bit of a sad story that this post has degenerated into a bitchIng session about grey water management. If you must have a say on the topic please take it to the "I digress" tab and leave the topic as it was intended not a place to voice your so called " right to have your say"
it does nothing to add to the benefit of this site and only goes in part to drive people away
so I have had my say

Youre right and its a great pic that Doug has posted - a child clapping in agreement !
I didn't read the original post that briche refers to and don't intend to go looking for it - because hes right - lets not take a topic on a particular feature and twist it into a bitch/personal opinions topic
And yes, it doesn't encourage new people to want to stay hear and worse still, get those who have been on site for months/years, but lurk and stay mute in the background because they are concerned of being bagged. Have a look at the topics and see how many read each topic compared to the few who actually comment.
Can we all remember this is a camping/RV site for full and part-time travelers to share their advice (constructive), experiences and ideas - not a place to denigrate others

I wholeheartedly agree! I'm fairly new here, but not to forums (fora?) in general. I have recently refrained from posting and to a large extent, even visiting another well-known forum due to the 'holier than thou' armchair experts who pounce on anyone who dares to have a different opinion to them! Some posters over 'there' are very quick to personalise and denigrate others resulting in a huge number of threads being locked by admin.
I am of the belief that a good forum relies on and encourages discussion, shares ideas and opinions and attempts to help members solve problems and answer queries. I cannot see why these objectives cannot be achieved in a friendly and respectful manner. If you disagree with someone, that's fine, but do so in a respectful manner and please... state your reasons why. None of us know it all and new ideas and technologies are always emerging. What suits one person, may not always be ideal for someone else... we are all different, with differing needs.
Except for a couple of (seemingly isolated) instances, this forum seems very friendly, so hopefully I'll be around for a while and will certainly help when and if I can.

What GerryP said... DITTO me. its why I perhaps lurk and not post. don't even bother with that " other well known" forum. this site is much much more friendlier.
The bitching and general rudeness is what causes good forums to go bad - good members, with lots of info get sick of it and leave, and the forum is left struggling - why are people like this!

Great !!! Three positive (well Jules is a positive person, hence the recent knighthood od "The Happy Helper" people who agree that we all need to be positive and help each other and if you disagree, then just spit out your dummy and type in nothing in response - we don't need or want negative and/or personal comments and attacks on others. If we were all pleasant and helpful, then there would be a huge number of posts and comments, rather than the lurkers we have now who don't want to be vilified by someone that is up on their soap box

Some posters do get a bit vicious at times and it is unfortunate that by and large they are allowed to get away with it.
