2007 Jeep Compass

Hi All,

I will be taking a camper trailer and having a look around, I came across a 2007 Jeep Compass in good condition for sale.  At an exceptional price (after my trade in).

Anyone have any thoughts/experience with this type of vehicle?

Cheers

Brother-in law had a 2007 brought it because it was good value, had nothing but trouble, control arm, alternator & numerous electrical faults. But was it a bad vehicle or a lemon?

Thanks dazren and BaupleNut,
I will have it fully checked out before THE trip. My mechanic is great and he will suggest any spares that I need (just in case I get into trouble away from help) to get back to a larger town.
I took it for a test drive yesterday and it was great. The dealer is going to provide me with a 12 mth warranty, not the standard 3 mth one. Since I would have to spend the same amount of money on getting my RAV ready that the Jeep is going to cost me, then I might as well go for it. Still, have a few days left to finally decide.
It is the 3rd dream car of mine, behind a HumVee and a BMW 323.
If it turns out to be a lemon, I guess I'll have to buy heaps of gin while waiting for it to be fixed....

Some pretty worrying reviews among that lot.   I would think long & hard before going that way.  But then you get lots of die hard Jeep lovers too.

I would think most if not all problems should be gone after 9 years.

It seems that you had already made up your mind, if I were you I would read the reviews on problems with the Jeep Compass in particular the 2007 model has the most problems by far. I also wouldn't get my local mechanic no matter how good he is , an independent motoring organization would be better. Just my two bobs worth ,but in the end it's your hard earned. Below is a report on the 2007 Compass at brand new.

Hi All,

Thanks for all the advice. I had made up my mind, but have now got 2nd thoughts. Especially after reading the reviews. Back to plan A - 1993 Mitsubishi Pajero. I'll have a look at it tomorrow and see how things go.
I know that I am a stubborn so-and-so at times, but having now become a seenager (senior teenager), common sense is starting to prevail. See below for my more endearing traits:

I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 50 years later.
I don't have to go to school or work.
I get an allowance every month.
I have my own pad.
I don't have a curfew.
I have a driver's license and my own car.
I have ID that gets me into bars and the wine store. I like the wine store best.
The people I hang around with are not scared of getting pregnant, they arent scared of anything, they have been blessed to live this long, why be scared.
And I don't have acne.
Life is Good! Also, you will feel much more intelligent after reading this, if you are a Seenager.
Brains of older people are slow because they know so much. People do not decline mentally with age, it just takes them longer to recall facts because they have more information in their brains, scientists believe this also makes you hard of hearing as it puts pressure on your inner ear.
Much like a computer struggles as the hard drive gets full, so too, do humans take longer to access information when their brains are full.
Also, older people often go to another room to get something and when they get there, they stand there wondering what they came for. It is NOT a memory problem, it is nature's way of making older people do more exercise.
SO THERE!!
I have more friends I should send this to, but right now I can't remember their names. So, please forward this to your friends; they may be my friends, too.
