We have completed our first big lap

Hubby and i departed Brisbane in May 2015 and set off in an anti clockwise direction to do our first big lap. We stuck to the grey road top only leaving it to go down the odd dirt road to a camp site ( our van was not an off road or even semi off road ). We had a great trip, saw some fantastic places and met some great people and cant wait to get out there again but maybe for shorter periods of time for a while...6 months max. Within a week of getting home we went and ordered a brand new van ( ESSENTIALS  Exceed ) and are now grounded until August when it is due to be delivered ( that is really testing my patience as i feel really hemmed in now the old van has been written off and taken away....)

We really do live in a wonderful, beautiful country and i am so glad i have had a chance to at least see part of it with more to come.

Hi Jackie P,

We are happy that you both enjoyed the lap and got back safe.

You say our van has been written off.confuse Is that to say it met with an incident, or it's past its use by date.cry Either way a new van will see you doing more tours of this vast land.

Enjoy the new van and we hope to hear all about it very soon.

Regards Jim & Lambie

Hey Jim

We were caught in a hail storm in Norseman WA that put 1 smallish hole in the carcus ( we plugged it with silicone for remainder of trip ) and about a dozen barely noticable dents also the awning recieved a small tear. When we got home we contacted RACQ insurance about repairing it all. They decided that it was going to cost $11,000 to repair the hail damage so that plus the cost of new awning was not worth the cost....van was insured for $15,000 so we were happy with the result.

Glad to hear you are home safe after a wonderful trip. We sure do have a wonderful playground out there in the beautiful, wide, brown land. I can understand the feeling not having your freedom machine. Unfortunately August will be upon us before we know it & you will be gone again. I am heading off soon for Alice Springs....can't wait. So much to see & do.....so little time!! biggrin
