Books with information re travelling etc

Hi....I am not yet travelling, still in the process of thinking, planning, getting idea's etc. Not quite the time to go yet, but it will happen!

I love the Grey Nomad website and newsletter and have had lot's of great info and responses from people on forums. I will be travelling as a

solo female. I was wondering if there are any books people know of which might be useful. I am an ex Librarian, and have checked out the public

library catalogues, and found a few interesting books to read. I guess I am interested in books that might cover things such as: travelling solo, what to take,

general helpful information (how to do things etc.) and on and on. As I mentioned, this website is fantastic, however I am aware there will probably be area's

where I can't get online, so a book especially on some of the more useful things one needs to know would be useful, however, I am also interested in

just reading about other people's experiences. I have even watched a few YouTube clips, but most have been just general short vids on the subject of grey nomads.

Obviously the books don't need to be just about one age group. If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear of them, also where they can be bought from. e.g.

Are camping shops etc likely to have this sort of information? Cheers for now. Vicki

There is, or was a book by our webmaster, Cindy, all about "Grey Nomadding" - I am pretty sure it is still available - look in the General Section, for Grey Nomad merchandise - a really good read - one of the other best things to do is - to go back through and do some "searches" on this forum on places or things you want to know about - good luck and happy travels!

Vicki, I have no connection with this mob except I subscribe. The Caravan and Motorhome Magazine is pretty good. When preparing to go caravanning, I bought John Basham's Caravan Survival Guide which I also found good as a raw beginner. I am sure there are plenty out there. Good luck. You should really enjoy the experience when you get going.

Thanks Kev, I will definitely check that out....I saw that magazine in the newsagent the other day and thought it probably wouldn't be any good for me as I'm not planning on getting  caravan, but sounds like it would still be a good one to check out. I will see if my library carries it before I buy one...cheers Vicki
