With a 30cm draft, I still had to haul myself over a few sections. You'd need to be careful of overhanging trees in a lot of places when mooring for the night - I assume you have a mast?
On my bucket list is to camp the full length of the Murray, mainly free-camping plus the odd night in a van park. Up to now it's been done in bits and pieces. Ultimately want to go from top to bottom in one trip.

So far I've camped at Jingellic, Zanettis Beach (just west of Yarrawonga), Cohuna, Robinvale, Gol Gol, Buronga, Morgan, Corowa, Tailem Bend, Tallangatta, Berri, Overland Corner, Barham, Barmah, Euston, & Wentworth. Some have been on a motorbike camping in a tent (solo), some have been in cabins with a group of motorcyclists, some have been with wife with car & van. Didn't realise how many trips Ive made until I listed them all. Except for Berri (25 years ago with wife and kids), all the others have been in last 5 years. Most recent three weeks ago.
Quite a few boats headed past Zanetti's when we were camping on Australia Day weekend. Lovely part of the country. Don't know much about navigating the river but i do know the boats had to pick their way thru.

No Mast or keel. The boat has been converted for river cruising with a outboard.
I will add plenty of batteries and solar and use a electric motor where possible and a 15hp outboard if I need to travel faster.
My idea is to just make headway against the flow and even 4 - 5 kms a day or just around a bend will be OK. Coming down I will only need the motor to stay in the deep water to navigate.
Will be basic but I think it will be OK. Will be doing some refurbishment before I head off and then go as slow as I need to so I can photograph the river and the birds etc and catch some fish, shrimps and yabbies for food where possible.
Regards
Brian

I was a bit hesitant as my departure date got closer - BUT I DID IT!!
There are lots of people who will help you out on the river if you need a hand. I got myself into a pickle a few times along the way - but always managed to get myself going again.
