When \i did my first big lap, 2011, I had 120w folding panel charging2x105amp hr deep cycle agm batteries, mounted on the box body of my Navara. Worked great, the minor inefficiency of being mounted flat rather than being vertically angled to the north, made little noticable difference . The security of being permanently mounted was the deciding factor for me

Why didn't I post this in the solar section, because not may GN's would read it.
Yes but will it be read by the knowledgeable people? The tech savvy people don't necessarily monitor this forum. If you post in the correct forum then you get the best responses.

mounted 2 x 120 watt panels on the top of the canopy to run my 80 litre Waeco and charge the 120 ah battery in the back of the ute. Works very well for me.

Not trying to be rude or unkind in any way Iana but on what do you base your comment about not many GNs reading your post if it were in the solar forum as i for one check it every time I come to the forum

To answer those still hanging on the edge of their seats, I was trying to track down one particular person. From comparing pictures of the installation that I saved, when that person first posted them I can tell you it was Cruising Cruze, so that wasn't really a technical question.
The second part of my thread was answering all those who would have asked, why I posted it in "General" rather than in the Solar section. I don't know if Cruising Cruze visits the solar section?
