The Palmeston is the best of the ranges heading to the Atherton Tablelands.
The grades aren't bad and the corners are sweeping mostly and easy to navigate.
Alternatives are the Gillies, Kuranda and the Rex and they are much tighter corners.
I have towed my much smaller van up there with no issues and cant see you having a problem

Definitely the Palmeston, this is the preferred route for heavy vehicles travelling north to the Cape. Some localised heavy rainfall due to the active monsoon trough, so be prepared for some heavy downfalls. Enjoy your travels in the far north!
