Hi. Just thought I would pass on my experience with a product called Eternabond which I think I saw advertised in GNT. I have an Avan poptop which has had a minor leak in the roof. After applying silicon until the cows came home that damn leak was still there. Only minor but a pest. We have just had our first rain for weeks and I can report that the leak is fixed. Eternabond is expensive but it works. Has any other member used it and what results ?
Hi Col. Never heard of it before - but sounds good. Where do you get it from and do you have a picture of it you can post - is it a liquid or tape and pricing?

On our past caravans I used Selleys All Clear brushable silicone. For any gap wider than a few mm I reinforced in with fibreglass flywire. This stuff stays flexible so on joins it will move with expansion, contraction and the ussual distortion when traveling. Our last van was a 1978 Millard, the first thing I did when we got it was go over all the roof seams and joins with all clear. We had it for over 10 years and it never leaked.
Best part is that it can be painted over too. It's the stuff in the tin, you can find it at most of the big green sheds.
Steve, Di & Ziggy We named our Motorhome "Roadworx" because on the road works "On The Road Again" Ford Transit with 302 Windsor V8 conversion, C4 Auto, 9 Inch Ford Diff All Lighting L.E.D., 260 Amp/h AGM, 530 Watt Solar + Kipor Backup Gen.
Hi. It just looks like a roll of tape. Cost was $81-50. It is called Eternabond and is 50mm wide and 15.2m long. 75mm is available also. Website is www.EternaBond.com and there contact is sales@foamsealant.com.au. I cleaned all the old sealant off plus any dirt and grime and applied in warm weather. I think this is important. Regards Col
Hi. Thanks for your post. I did use Selleys but I still couldn't stop that one little leak. Eternabond has fixed it. Obviously I don't know how long it will last but I am relying on the name "Eterna" ! Cheers Col
I had a leak in the roof of my motor home last year - only seemed to leak when the van was on a angle.
I used Leak Seal -in a spray can - you can also get it in a tin to paint on Made by Rust-Oleum USA(from Bunnings) - no more leaks but it is only a year since I used the product
We used eternabond to fix a leak in our van about 8mths ago, so far works really well, except for a small corner where we missed preparing it properly. It doesn't stick to silicone. Would highly recommend it :)
