CAREFUL WHERE YOU PARK

On our last trip traveling from Mt Isa to Cloncurry, our first stop was to visit the Pharmacy, perfect spot to park or so we thought directly opposite, pulled in all good until two lovely local ladies drew to our attention that our awning was a hair breath away from a huge cement pole. If we had driven off we could have lost the lot, we had not taken into account the CAMBER in the road, what saved us was the fact that our van is a Poptop, the ladies went on to say that many a full size van has come to grief in the exact same spot, one even requiring a Bobcat to remove. Being new to caravaning we are now much more aware of what's up, what's low and what's beside us, something good always comes from something bad I always say, we were lucky. Bessie

Yes very good advice we also have had some close shaves in that department and also have seen someone come to grieve in a country town with their caravan leaning against a light pole. I am always checking sideways upwards and forward

Perhaps a camera like this one with a 360 degree view could be a good idea.

Now to wait for the clowns who ask "How much and where do you get them?" Some people just gotta have everything

Had that happen to us. Stopped at a friends place with a hardwood power pole like that. Put a nice scrape along rolled up awning, took the top layer off. It was in a very narrow street and tried to get as close to the kerb as possible, but a bit to close.

Did the same in a hire kia m/home fews yrs back. Pulled up for counter lunch at little country pub, did notice the lean but thought nothing off it.
After lunch took off , great crash.O dear that was the awning.

Surprising how many van tuggers forget that the van is wider than the car and line up the drive in parking spot ,normally at speed, and come to grief .This seems to happen where councils have widened the road but the electricity authority hasn't move their pole installation or council hasn't asked them to
