Good ones John, not often used correctly.
My two favourites are:
I seen, should be I saw or I have seen
I should of, should be I should have.

What bugs me the most is the phrase "Me and my mate ....." or "Me and Fred ....." instead of "My mate and I" or "Fred and I". I was always taught at school that it was polite to put yourself last. Brenda.

what really gets up my nose is the pollies use of "engage" with the people, rather than discuss (more likely just telling us what they have already decided).

And how about the terrible grammar (to instead of two, for example) on the internet news pages and of all places Aunty ABC. If they don't get the spelling right with the caption, then they often give the person a sex change by putting up someone else's name. And they want another $30M from the Govt to have another 100 regional reporters this year in places they already have the infrastructure (buildings, equipment etc) - sounds like a bunch more H/O seat warmers will be employed.

Sometimes you are also judged by your choice of words and, to me, POOTER is a very poor choice for a, supposedly, mature person.

I believe the word 'pooter' refers to the excrement that comes through the FRED.

I really don't care how someone expresses themselves, as long as their post has a point.....and is well intentioned.....judgements are for Courts to determine, however your point is understood John.
Tolerance is more important to me than the spelling....Hoo Roo...<I guess the words' Hoo Roo' won't be found together in the Dictionary either>

Rocky one of the things I hate in life is being told by some upstart that I am not pronouncing nor writing things correctly, some of us out here are not educated to your standards, but we do try, I think about what words I should use and often research said words because I'm not a literary genus by any means. So please do not judge those of us with a lesser education.

I am one of the old school that sends text messages with full words as I would speak them and as I would like the recipient to read them. If one of my daughters or grandchildren were to say, me and ? a simple pardon me and they quickly correct the sentence. I am not perfect and way back when I was a little boy I used to write little ditties that sometimes accidently bought my English teacher to tears. This one reminds me of some of the text messages I have received after auto grammar and spellcheck have finished converting the shortened and abused use of the English language.

Last night at three o'clock this morning
A fire broke out in an empty house full of furniture
A young man eighty years of age
Bare footed with his fathers boots on
Jumped out the front window onto the back porch
Into a bucket of cold water and scalded himself
He's now in the Townsville hospital in the best of health
And likely to die any minute.

Dave
