Excuse my ignorance, but for the life of me I do not understand what 'classifieds' are......what positions......and what does 'begins with L' mean?
Bit pointless talking in pig latin fellas.
Regards
Hi all, Much of our classified section including 'housesitters wanted', 'housesitters available', 'work wanted' and most of our 'help wanted' listings are offered as a free service to help nomads and people in need of nomads to find each other. I ask every person who lists an ad with us to contact me if they fill their position so we can keep our listings up to date. Unfortunately, and despite promises that they will let me know if they find someone, not all advertisers do ... so sometimes listings are online when they no longer relevant. If anyone discovers that a listing is either already filled or is out of date, please let me know so I can remove it. If anyone is either looking for a housesitting position or for work, just email me (editorial@thegreynomads.com.au) a short paragraph detailing a little about yourself, the general area you'd like to housesit/or work, the dates you are available and contact details and I will put it online for you.
Thanks Happy Wanderer, you are correct. When I read the original post I searched thru this forum for 'classifieds' but found no sub-forum called classifieds.... I found "items for sale" but not one called classifieds.
It's all clear now.
Thanks.
In employment terms, it gets worse. MY son is a Dick Smith Manager and obviously job hunting before they probably close (even though they are telling staff they still have interested potential buyers). He applies for a job, which takes about 30+ minutes with putting together a good cover letter to go with his standard resume.
Then he goes for an interview. With travelling and sitting waiting for the interview which is usually about an hour long, he has used most of the day (and diesel/mileage). Then he never hears back from the company. How difficult is it for these outfits to send out a pro-forma email saying "thanks, but no thanks" to all those that replied. As most of you know you can group emails together and just type one email which will be sent to one and bcc'd to everyone else - a 10 minute job for an office person.........now that's not only lazy, its also arrogant.

The amazing things you see when nomading Australia
Bruce and Bev, I have found that this has been happening for years, people are to LAZY or don't want any confrontation. When I interviewed people for jobs, I would either let them know there and then no go or I made certain that I rang everyone back or asked them to ring me after 4pm the next day and I could let them know. Most got the idea that they did not get the job and did not bother ringing back, then others would anyway.
I know if I every applied for a job I would always follow up and I even gave a couple of people a serve because they would not contact me to advise if I got the job. I let it be known that they where very rude and not very professional. A burnted bridges hey.
Excuse my ignorance, but for the life of me I do not understand what 'classifieds' are......what positions......and what does 'begins with L' mean? Bit pointless talking in pig latin fellas. Regards
I think most adult Australians know exactly what classified advertisements are.
For the few on this forum that don't! this link may help.
You are right Bruce ......the L was for lazy.......on the subject of staff....
I advertise a lot for casual staff....apply via email .....all are replied to and those that have the good fortune of getting anterview are phoned to set a time for meeting and a phone call to advise them of the outcome.......
So I was a bit miffed couple of weeks ago I put in a cracker of an application......got an interview which went very well. Would you believe.........nothing.........maybe they are still deciding.....
