travelling WA

Can anyone assist with directions plus road conditions travelling to Wave Rock. We will be travelling from Coolgardie - Perth via Great Eastern Hwy stopping at Merredin.  We are towing an 18' on road pop top caravan.  Should we travel via Bruce Rock to Narembeen or take direct minor road?  Is the minor road suitable for our van?  Thanks in advance - dobrah

There a good road between Southern Cross and Yellowdine a gravel road called Emu Fence road that takes you into Wave Rock /Hyden about 150 Klm .You can also acess this road from Southern Cross .
Or travel south from Coolgardie to Norsman -Hyden road to Hyden both roads are rather dusty this time of year though .

Good advice from Dhutime....... all roads in that area would be fine to use at this time of the year ......apart from the dust....and all would have minimal traffic on them.....just as always.......drive to the conditions

Make sure you do the small run across to Kulin and the Tin Horse Highway. Great little town with friendly people and a free camp area for fully self contained or a pay as much as you think it was worth caravan park.

Stay off the main Kalgoorlie to Perth highway if you intend to travel there - shocking road which will leave all your teeth (or dentures) in your lap.

If you want to stay in a CP near Wave Rock, there is one listed nearby which is on a farm. Run by an old guy that looks like Hans Christen Andersen and has a neat museum with it. All the sites are drive through with hot and cold water at each site (yep - hot water), the cleanest ablution block we've ever seen and nice little kitchen.

You can find it on wikicamps - if you do need the name and location, PM me and I will have a look on wiki or ask the oracle (that's the BOSS) lol

I think you mean the park at Kalgarin which is only 15 or 20 kms from Hyden
