Safari Caravans

Would appreciate any feed back on Saferi Caravans Xtrak Off Road model.

As with most manufacturers they are made in Campbellfield Vic and I believe have been in business about 10yrs.

regards
Ian

Hi all

Would also be happy to hear from anyone who in their travels may have spoken to anyone who owned, or had owned, a Safari van

Hi
We have owned a Safari Delta 186 tuff roader for a little over 2 years. We have been very pleased with its performance and we think the layout gives plenty of room for a smaller van. We have taken it on thousands of kms of dirt roads and whilst nothing was extreme (plenty of corregations though!!) nothing has gone wrong in the van except for loose handles before we tighten them up. We didn't see a lot of value in spending the extra on the Xtrak when told it wouldn't do much more than ours!!!
PS we even drive from Adelaide to have it serviced at Ballarat

Hi Rockster

Thanks so much for your feedback, good to hear of no serious issues.
Our old van was a Trakmaster (2003), offroad, as yourself, we are more interested in how it handles the corrigations, I cerntainly won't and never will go bush bashing with 3ton behind me, just want the satisfaction that after lots of km on corrigations I still have a caravan behind me, in one piece.

We also are in Adelaide, any chance we can meet up and checkout your Safari!!!

regards
Ian

Hello Wanda,
The wife and i had been looking at caravans for about two years before we settled on a "Safari Delta 20 ft"
The reason we went for the 20 ft was the very strong chassis and everything in the build looked super strong and well made.
One of the first alterations we made was to get rid of the front window, no leaking problems to deal with.
We haven't had the van long but we have taken it along a few rough tracks and no problems yet.
We tow with a ranger and it handles the van with ease.
I do not think you will have any major problems with any Safari model you choose especially for the very cheap price compared with other company's.

Hi Pomme

Thanks also for your reply, I also am a big believer of no front windows or even a back window. Water(possibly) at the front and dust at the rear(definate problem), we do a lot of dirt road travelling and the old Trakmaster did suck it in at the back window on corrigations.
We are interested in an 18ft Xtrak off roader and are waiting on a price from Chris, likewise they do appear cheaper than some of the better known brands, I just have to be convinced their build is able to withsatand corrigated roads. We are considering a quick trip to the factory, if the price is right, and the feed back is positive from various forums.

thanks again for your reply

Ian
