Hi , just looking at getting shade options for our fiamma awning
we're looking to put antiflaps on it as well as extra centre supports and maybe even custom make some more vertical supports too, has anyone out there done this ? and if so did it add more strength to the setup?
By design the windout's are pretty flimsy in their standard form, so we're hoping to strengthen it more with these add ons and shade walls etc
Not looking to do battle with gail force winds , but it'd be nice to able to leave it up in 20-30 k wind gusts which can spring up on normal days
Anyone tried Sunbuster shade walls at all ? any suggestions will be great :)
Currently just using one centre support and tying down the 2 legs with sprung ropes and heavy angle iron pegs

Most of the shade manufactuers will have them for your fiamma. Good caravan accessary shops will be able to supply. Also you could take a peak on 'Evilbay' as they have heaps. I was only looking for canvas or similar 'end' only, yesterday, with no luck though.

Hi I used Aussie Traveller for antiflap adjustable arms and curved rafter on my Onmistor awning. Made a big difference in the wind. For side and end curtains we use Coast to Coast. They also seem to assist in strengthening the awning in the wind. Cheers,

Thanks guys , yes there's quite a few options out there , that's why l thought ld see what people on here thought in regards to good options :) Yeah I've heard Aussie Traveller anti flaps are good ,, l don't think much of the clamping system on sunbusters anti flap system , otherwise they're fine , it'd be great to see prior to buying but it's hard living away from major city's and working

Purchased the Fiamma Anti Flaps/Sideawning sections for side walls. The clamping method is very good ie full length on the side of the awning and there is a slot for a side wall and another slot for a shade covering for the side wall window. We had the side walls made out of black mesh that is strong and all fittings to the pole next to the van and the Fiamma awning post are in Velcro so quick to setup/take down.
2 comments with the Fiamma side wall/Anti Flap fittings, The cost and the weakness ( to me) of the AL fittings, I think they could easily bend so we do no use a strap (75mm wide)across the middle of the awning ( lengthways) because of this. I also use a small step ladder to assist with setting up the antiflap install.
Hi peter , yes the fiamma anti's are similar to the Aussie travellers in that they clamp ( which l like )
It's looking like l'll have to take a drive and spend a day looking at some different makes and make a decision
I've heard of people running a strap across the awnings before , it'd have to help a lot
Hi Wa , yes ive heard that re curved rafters , i was thinking of just going with straights as the fiamma probably wouldnt wind in well if it gets too streched in different areas lm guessing

I meant to say we do NOT run the strap across because to me the AL sides are weak and could bend an break . This is after spending $40 or so on the strap/spring/pegs.
Hi Peter , yep I'm with you now , yes l guess it could bend them if they're not very strong in construction and you get a strong wind / and or just the force of the strap being tensioned with a ratchet etc I was assuming they would have been pretty rigid in construction ..... I've never had a close look at anti flap bars , we only get the van out a few times a year atm as we both still work ( but grey lol )
