In Perth, the major chains are still trying to flog diesel for between $1.19.9 to $1.29. Puma sells as low as $104.9 where theres competition, but if there is none, or they are near BP (who are always the dearest), then theyre expensive as well.
I find it interesting that one man band independants have been selling diesel for 3+ months now for $1.04.9 and obviously still make enough profit to pay staff wages, overheads and make profit. Theres one of these servos about 40 mins south of Mandurah who has been selling diesel for 94c now for the past 3 months.

I guess BP, Caltex, Woolies and Coles and just plain greedy and price gouging while they ignore the sabre rattling of the ACCC and the total lack of comment coming out of Canberra.

The above four were caught out by the ACCC about 8 weeks ago employing a price sorting house, which recorded prices of all the different types of fuels from all servos (through the Fuel Watch systems that the various State Govts operate). Every 15 mins, this sorting house sends to each of the majors prices by geographical area. This enables these retailers to price fix. Coles has agreed to stop buying this information WHEN their contract with the sorting house expires this coming July !
Woolies have refused to cancel their arrangement and the ACCC will once again take them to Court. No comment about BP and Caltex Starmart (these are the ones not operated by Woolies) who are still taking this information.

Seems the Banks and fuel companies run this country as they do whatever they want and ignore the groveling pleas by our Pollies to go easy on the public.

 As I have stated on this forum many times in the past, that in my opinion the ACCC is an absolute joke.  Just like the Productivity Commission.

 

I missed out on the sub $1 fuel at a WW servo.  Within hours it was back up to $1.24 or there abouts.  I waited a bit & passed another selling at $1.04.  So I picked it up there.

Some would say that this demonstrates that the competitive model is working.  I say that it demonstrates that price gouging exists.

I brought diesel at 93.9 today at a servo out of town. In town the big2 are 124.9

I've been getting my diesel from Vibe, North Perth - consistantly the cheapest diesel fuel in my area - it's really out of my way to fill there but at $1.079 compared to $1.29 or so at bowsers I actually pass going to/from work it pays to drive a little bit further!

Sitting in our world of only knowing (if that is the right word) what the media tells us, it seems incongruous that retail fuel prices are at the level they are when it seems the fuel companies are doing it hard.

if youre NOR Perth, WA, Nerabup 2 servos have been doing diesel for $1.04.9 for a few months now. One is United (I think) and the other is Puma).

The independent at Yanchep, half way between Yanchep and Wanneroo Rd is $107.9 and has been for about 3 months.
