Flooded Fitzroy River crossing cuts off remote WA community

Myroodah crossing flooded by rainwater, with a four-wheel-drive parked at the edge of the water.

The flooded Myroodah crossing has blocked the route to and from the Kadjina community.

Food supplies have had to be flown to a remote community which has been cut off for more than two weeks by a swollen Fitzroy River in Western Australia's Kimberley region.

Ten people - six adults and four children - live at the Kadjina community on the southern banks of the river near the Great Sandy Desert in WA's far north.

Rising waters mean they have been unable to pass a flooded Myroodah crossing to reach Camballin or Fitzroy Crossing to shop for food for a fortnight.

The community called the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) for help on Friday before supplies started to run low over the weekend.

DFES regional duty coordinator Felix McQuistan said fresh supplies of food, milk and water had been delivered.
