Great blog Mike and Sue. You have some stunning pictures and look like you are enjoying yourselves despite the heavy rain! We are planning a tour of Tasmania next year and your blog has whetted our appetite even more. Safe travels!

Welcome to the forum rayjudesmith. Yes, we certainly are enjoying Tassmania. We lived here for around 37 years before moving to Victoria in 1990 and yet there are areas we have visited this time that are totally new to us. It is well worth a visit (a long visit if possible).
Nice Blog Mike. I'll be in Hobart during April, just for a week but I'm planning to take the van over in Jan next year for a month or three or maybe longer.
Great blog and wonderful photos, loved the rainbow. Did a 4 day cruise just to see Hobart with 12 of us in December. Have often thought the expensive trip on the Spirit with van would not be worth it, think you've changed my mind. Thank you.

it is well worth the expense. Just make sure you give yourself lots of time to explore. The longer you stay the better value you get out of the fare.

You will LOVE it... the longer you can stay the better
Great photos mate. How is it pulling a van around Tassie with the hills and relatively minor roads?
thanks
Steve
The roads are really pretty good. Some of the roads we have taken down the east coast are steep and windy in places but so far none have presented any problems. The Ranger pulls the 2500kg van up the inclines with relative ease. All of the main roads are well maintained. The minor road are also pretty good too. The gravel roads into Waterhouse and a section of the road from Waterhouse through to Gladstone was a bit of shocker but it was only aroun 20 - 30 K.
all in all I am very happy with the towing experience in Tassie.
A great read. I will wait and watch for more!! We plan to put the van on the ferry next Jan for 3 months or so for a second trip, can't wait so am very interested in your blog to read an see where an what you are doing.

We have travelled to the Huon today, Steve. This trip tested the Ranger. It still quite comfortably pulled the van up the steep and long stretches though. Road conditions excellent though.
