WA town of Gnowangerup flooded as heavy rains fall, Truck driver rescued

IF WE DON'T HAVE BUSH-FIRES, WE HAVE FLOODING..................

Truck driver rescued

Farmer Elliot Richardson said he rescued a truck driver whose road train had been washed off a road about 10 kilometres south of Gnowangerup.

The driver was stranded on top of the vehicle as waters rose.

"There was a few cars on either side of the road and there was the driver standing on top of his truck...he had about a foot or six inches of dry land to stand on top of the truck," he said.

Mr Richardson sourced an anchor rope and waded out to get the driver back on land.

"I got the anchor rope and a big float and we ended up getting the float to him and got him back in," he said.

"He was fine, a bit cold and saturated and a little bit shaken I suppose."

A truck driver is thrown a rope as he hangs off the back of his road train, which is partially submerged by floodwaters.

Wide shot of Gnowangerup football oval inundated with water after heavy rain.

Flash flooding follows fires as south-west WA experiences heaviest rainfall in decades

Flood waters rush down a road.

Wild weather has continued to wreak havoc in the south-west of Western Australia as flash floods follow bushfires.

Many residents in the South West and Great Southern regions recorded rainfall of more than 170mm in the 24 hours to Tuesday morning.

What's the old say "if it doesn't rain, it pours" - very true in this situation isn't it?

If it's Flooded Forget It

Turn around don't drown(bit hard with a road train I know)

I am guessing the Semi was under water, as the write-up says, he was standing on top of his vehicle when rescued,

In the picture you can see the clearance lights on the trailer are still working, so it must have been still attached to the Tractor unit.
