WA fire: Residents of fire-ravaged Yarloop return to inspect damage.....


Residents who fled a devastating bushfire at Yarloop south of Perth will be allowed back into the town briefly today to inspect their properties.

the West Australian (that's WAs daily newspaper) have really got their teeth into this fire and asking a lot of open questions to the State Govt and Fire Service as well as Parks Dept as to why this fire got so out of control.

This includes refusing NSWs offer of having a DC10 aerial super tanker on the day the fire took off, to the various emergency services not being on the same radio channel, one putting out a fire and another back burning the same area and putting staff at risk. By all accounts, the rural fire staff are up in arms about the poor performance of the various govt depts. involved

This is going to turn into yet another political bun fight with everyone pointing the finger at each other, another expensive commission of enquiry (seem to have one every fire season now) and still nothing more done to fix the problems
