Here's hoping all our GN friends are safe in these horrific fires in the south of WA at the moment - seem to be widespread, and thunderstorms are not helping, sending lightning down ferociously.
Please take care - if you are in and area where a fire starts, please don't leave it too late to evacuate, don't panic, do what the firies and other authorities say - and most of all STAY SAFE.

The forecast for us up here was for severe thunderstorms with hail, gale force winds and heavy rain.. We had a 2 minute sprinkle and the sun came back out and now it is muggy and hot as hell!! Somehow I think the forecast storms will hit further east of us. Just pray that it has lots of rain if there is any lightning strikes. Half our fireys are down south.
As an little aside, went to town this morning and one of the places that was burnt out here was Wilbinga free camp area, 4 caravans parked in there (looked like they were overnighters as it was early when we went thru) in the burnt out area, Their vans will be covered inside and out with ash and it has that distinctive recently burnt smell thru there. They hadn't just parked in the gravelled parking area but were way back in the burnt out area !!
we have a nephew with a farm on Telegraph Rd at Esperance. At one point it was looking a bit dicey for him but the fire appears to be staying closer to the coast thru the sand hills in mostly unaccessable land so hopefully once it reaches pasture/farms at Dalyup they can contain it and get it out. All these fires are a bit of a worry. A lot of the areas burning have not been burnt by either wild fire or controlled burns for so long there is a massive amount of undergrowth to feed them.
Talking to nephew at Capel today and he said they are getting ash and smoke down there from the Harvey/Yarloop fire. Capel is halfway between Busselton and Bunbury. Some one posted a comparison map on facebook of the size of the fire and in area it covers most of Perth from Wanneroo to Kwinana to Midland. That is one hell of a fire!!
That is one huge area to be on fire!!!!!! Hope everyone is safe and stays that way - take care - be prepared and leave early!!!! Again THINGS can be replaced - PEOPLE CAN'T!!!
