Where to camp in /around Shepparton Vic

Camps 8 and wikicamps both show no places for Shepparton. Anyone know of somewhere there suitable for a couple nights please?

-  free / low cost.

And Happy New year to you all :)

Cheers

Girgarre is not a cup as such, it is a very good freedom camp with a donation box, no power but water, dump point and toilets as well as a good shower! Deserving of a fair donations.

Well said paws and any town/community that provides such should be fully supported don't do a 40 km or longer round trip to get supplies a couple of dollars cheaper.

Not much in Girgarre - though a lovely spot they have a market (monthly I think) which is great, but you can't camp there then. Greens Lake is 50k out o the road to Bendigo (Midland Highway) - free, flushing toilets and some Grey Nomad members to meet (near the boat ramp) - Aysons Reserve, is just down the road, also has flushing toilets and a dump point.

As the other poster said - Shepparton is not a good place to stay, not that there are free camps, anyway.

Greens Lake, Aysons Reserve have been mentioned as well as Gigarre, which is ideal for a couple of days. If you just want somewhere to park and sleep, 25 km south of Shepparton is a roadside parking lot, Calder - Woodburn Rest Area. Has toilets and a fireplace and is just far enough off the main highway to Shepparton to cancel out road noise.
