This is now becoming a. Regular occurrence and well worth seeing, on our trip to the flinders ranges a couple of years ago we got to Quarm and discovered that the flinders was effectively closed due to flooding so we decided to head for the rock.

On the way north we stopped off at Cober Pedy and decided to take a sightseeing flight over lake Eyre which was full at the time and absolutely fantastic, its a lot cheaper from there so if you have a chance fly over the lake take the time and the painted desert looks spectacular from the air, you also get a stop off at William Creek which is worth the visit you will see all of this in one flight from Cober Pedy.

Best place to watch the lake levels is on the Lake Eyre Yacht Club site.

Nature is indeed a wonderful thing!!!! Have been to the Lake when it was full, several years ago now, but would love to fly over it!!!!

Might check out the cost from Coober Pedy.

Which direction are you coming from? We did a flight over the lake from Birdsville. It cost a fair bit more then from  Marree or William Creek but we saw more. We flew from Birdsville to the Warburton Creek, Warburton Cut, across the lake, then returned over Goyders Lagoon and the Diamantina. As we were sculling around western Qld that saved a lot of time and money getting around to Marree.
