Took the plunge, after blowing two gboxes on the courier @ $2200 each and bought a 2011 dmax. Long range tank, and ARB suspension, dualbattery seup and only 44000 klms. Morepower, less fuel consumption.$10000 and traded in the courier. I think it was a good deal. Will post how in goes. Bill

In 2002 I decided to buy a 4x4 and knew nothing about them as I had previously had 67 Holden 75 Ford Fairlaine then 93 Calais and a 85 BMW MC but I grew fond of a new 2002 Mazda Bravo Twin Cab Diesel Ute. I looked after the car did regular services not much off road and in spite of all of this after 3 years The Diff Failed $2000 repair Bill and about 1 year after that I blew bearings in the Gear Box (manual) 2000km from home in Alice Springs on a trip to Uluru. Another $2000 repair bill. No towing involved . Very Disappointing for an Engine of only 2.4Lt to do so much damage. I bought a Toyota after that no problems and Towing 2 ton. However a mate of mine bought a Isuzu D Max and he loves it. I hear they are a good choice if you don't want to fork out all that money for a Toyota .. Good luck with your new Isuzu I'll be eager to hear how it goes.

Its a lot smoother than the courier, and has much more power. Seems to be better on fuel, but haven,t done a big trip yet. The cruise control is taking a bit of getting used to, but is great on the freeways. The moral is Don,t tow in 5th gear in a courier /bravo 5 speed turbodiesel.Can be expensive.Wll post after a few klms on the new one. Bill
I've got the 2013 model and it's done about the same distance. I'm sure you'll enjoy it for a long time to come.
What I would suggest, and it's not peculiar to the Dmax, and that is to have a good diesel filter fitted to the line. I'm about to do so as well after being "chided" by my mechanic .. hehe
Ive got a 2014 DMax and have hauled a 3.2T van around WA, SA, VIC and NSW. No problems, goes like the clappers and log book service prices are good (if you shop around dealers and maybe use a local mechanic). It has an Isuzu light truck motor in it so most county mechanics don't have problems with them and parts aren't too far away (and swappable with a certain Holden ute).
We don't notice much difference in fuel use either
