Had to say something

WOW, I am relatively new in Grey Nomads, (about 4 or 5 months) but, I thought that this Health & Wellbeing page would be a busy place, how wrong was I ?  Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining just happy that so many of us Oldish Aussies are travelling along so well. I am 75, and had a Triple Bypass at 62, and 33 years past my Father and as happy as Pie. We are so lucky to live in the early 2000s and get the benefit of Modern Medical Science. Does anybody else share my sentiments?.

That's my Sunday waffle.

Simmo.

Gday...

It all depends on the individual Simmo.

Personally, I have no inclination to share in public to strangers, my ailments, their treatment, and any limitations they may, or may not, cause me - and, let's be honest, despite members perhaps 'knowing' rockylizard, I really am unknown as a person.

Similarly, should I need advice on a condition that I am suffering I would consult a "health professional" rather than seek advice from fellow, layperson, travellers.

I rarely check this sub-forum (probably the only one I rarely check).

Cheers - John

Morning Simmo,

I suspect most of us have health problems of one kind or another.

Some people seem to be eager to share/discuss their condition with anyone who will listen, whilst most feel this is a private and personal aspect of their lives, outside of close family and perhaps some friends no one else needs to know, your health is simply not a topic to discuss on a public forum with strangers.smile

Morning John,

Looks like we were both typing similar replies at the same time, we certainly share similar views on this topic.smile

I notice no-one has posted anything about their hemorrhoids.. biggrinbiggrin

A funny side note:

When my kids were teen age, and trying to get a day off school, I used to say to them. Fair enough, if you think you aren't well enough to go to school, but your sick note is going to say.. "My son/daughter was unable to attend school yesterday, as he/she has had an extremely bad case of explosive diarrhoea. They usually changed their minds about a day off confuse.

I repeat::

I know where you are coming from John however, I am  forever the optimist. Millions of people have millions of problems aches and pains and millions of solutions. If I can jag one lousy solution that helps any of my aching joints, back and feet, I will be grateful and don't care where the solution came from.

Cheers.......Simmo.

Firstly, I'm not a professional, I'm speaking from years of personal experience.

I can't fix sore joints, but many suffer from sore/twisted/stretched muscle pain that extends around the back region, sometimes into the legs, or buttocks etc, and they think it's a "bad back".

Get something like dencorub, and massage, massage, stretch, massage, and acupressure the muscles.

The pain will be unbearable, but after a few days of "punishment", the soreness lessens then disperses.

Request the masseur/professional/or your partner pay attention to the sore bits, you'll probably be screaming on the table, it's not pretty, but it worked for me.

Ever seen those chinese suction caps?  They're also great, it releases the muscle tension and pain.

I've had a few foot massages, hurt like hell, but the result was awesome, my feet breathed a sigh of relief!!!!

Please, don't do what I regularly do, treat yourself!!!

I have neck and shoulder pain.. Frozen shoulder when you "sleep" or relax..
Dr's seem to put you on a course of drugs.. Sheesh they really effect my alertness. Driving etc..
Or taking instructions from Mrs .. Haha
I find what Lesley said above works a treat.. Hard massage seems to get acids [ or whatever?] out of joints..
I often hook myself up to a tense machine.. The strange thing it was the odd elect shock at work which caused
my shoulder issues over time.. Hot spa and a red wine helps.. Well ?? That's my saying...
I'm sure I'm not the only one ? I have just learnt to live with it..
