ANOTHER BUS FIRE IN PERTH

Passengers escape unhurt as bus destroyed by fire in Alexander Heights,............

BUS FIRE.jpg

Fire has gutted a diesel Transperth bus in Perth's northern suburbs, with a faulty air-conditioning unit suspected to have caused the blaze.

The bus was carrying about a dozen passengers in Alexander Heights when the driver smelled smoke and pulled over, the Public Transport Authority (PTA) said in a statement.

The vehicle was evacuated and nobody was injured.

Two fire trucks were sent to the blaze on the corner of Azelia and Highview Streets, but the bus was completely destroyed.

I wonder how many more Bus's will catch alight before someone will be killed !!!

according to todays West Australian newspaper, that's the 2nd diesel Transperth bus burnt out this year.

I worked briefly for a contractor who supplied buses to Transperth and the mechanical servicing of their vehicles is not that great given they are running a public bus service. At the depot I was at, we had approx. 100 buses with 2 mechanics. However, they had 8 cleaners to make them clean and pretty. Obviously they have their priorities right.

G'day Bruce,  It's amazing how wrong the Papers can be,  according to my count, this is the fourth time there has been a bus fire here in Perth,

the other three were gas related but this one had a fire in the air con,

Makes you wonder if the Gov't man is trying to do another cover-up, just so people will continue to use this money loosing service,

When you return to Perth, take a drive down Row hwy, towards Canningvale, as you pass over the South street fly-over, keep looking to the left, at the rear of the Water Corporation yard you will see hundreds of busses at the service depot they lease of the Water Corp, in this yard partly hidden behind bushes there are all the broken down and burnt-out wrecks , which they don't want any-one to see. !! It's a real eye opener.
