Windsor Gardens CaravanPark Adelaide SA Review

UNBELIEVEABLE REACTION FROM AN AGGRESSIVE AND BULLYING and DISCRIMINATING MANAGER
I returned back to our caravan at the WINDSOR GARDENS CARAVAN PARK, ADELAIDE, with my foot in plaster after having foot surgery with instructions from my surgeon to keep my foot up and not walk on it until the final plaster is off in January.
On my return to the caravan park, after office hours, and in severe pain, I found that I could not wheel my knee scooter through the thick gravel that had been recently laid.
My wife asked a friend to rake a path from the road to the annexe, which was done, and allowed me reasonable access.
My intention was to talk to the manager in the morning.
The manager walked past and bellowed from the road, Whats this. My wife went out and tried to explain the situation saying about why we did it and innocently said that the gravel wasnt disability friendly. As this was going on I was trying to get out of van as quickly as I could nearly falling over as I did, at this point his wife took off. When I did manage to get out by using my walker and hopping on one leg, I tried to explain and show him my predicament, to no avail.
He then said this is not a disability park, and ordered me to pack up and leave immediately. I said how? I cant go, I cant pack up and drive like this! He then said that he didnt care and in an inflammatory manner threatened to call the police to evict us right away. Of course this escalated the situation, with him demanding we leave in the morning. We finally left a few days later. We had booked until February 2016, and now find that all the other local caravan parks are booked out over the Christmas period.

G'day mate

It does seem to be a bit extreme

May I say that there may be other things to consider ...

In times past with me, if I've just been crapped on by another, it takes me a while to cool down ... could this have happened to him too?
However, I would like to think that some common sense would prevail and things calmed down

On the other hand, you now have to find yourself a new 'home' for the next few weeks ~ and the beauty of caravanning is that we / you can move around and discover new and interesting places

Are there places on the Yorke or Ayre Peninsula that might suit?
Anywhere down towards Kingston SE or into western Victoria?

Or maybe you could be very radical and do a meander along the Murray River from its mouth to its source up in the Kosciuszko hills !!

Phil

Hi Phil,
Thanks for your post and concern.
Fortunately we have now found a place to stay for the next few months and are quite happy.

The main problem was that with my leg in plaster I'm in no condition to rig and tow the van for at least eight weeks. So that made moving about a non option.

I'm extremely disappointed with the actions of the caravan park manager and I'm sure time will be his undoing. However I put that behind us now and look forwarding to continuing our travels in the new year.

Kind regards,
Graeme

I had a similar experience in WA at the Burns Beach CP. I had booked for 8 weeks to have knee surgery at the nearby hospital, the day after I had surgery the owner knocked on my door and said did we know we had to leave the next day !

I was astounded and asked what had changed, he said his son had made a booking mistake and being a long week end we had to get out as our site had been let.

When I asked him how as I couldn't walk let alone drive, he said he would tow me out and leave me in the public car park ! after some serious discussions he reneged and agreed I could stay but I had to pay upfront for the remaining 7 weeks rent. We had no choice but would never return there ever again on principle.
.
The man is the most nasty arrogant cp owner we have ever met

If you have Wikicamps you should put your experience there for other people to see. The only way to change such behaviour is when the perpetrators find their hip pocket being hit.

Bad luck Germangi, some people should stick to jobs that require no customer interaction.

Don't judge all Adelaide folk by the actions of this clown.no

WE have stayed at this caravan park twice, and in their defence, have had no issues. Found it convenient to the CBD, pet friendly, if a bit tight for our rig. Always sorry to hear bad reports, but good on you for voicing your issues
