Wakool River Reserve, Wakool NSW - CAMPS 8 NSW site 514 - GPS 35 29 58 S 144 27 30 E
This is a large, open camping area along the south bank of the Wakool River, immediately on the south side of the Wakool River bridge on the Wakool-Deniliquin Road.
The toilet is a very basic long-drop single toilet - there is no dump point or water ... and no grey water restrictions.
The water from the river is quite good for washing and cooking.
There are many sites along the river bank or out in the open spaces. Good spot for long or big rigs.
A large picnic area with a couple of tables is provided and there are picnic tables at various places along the river bank.
There is no time limit and good internet coverage (Telstra 3G).
There were fisherfolk trying their luck along the bank - I spoke with a couple of young locals who showed me a quite large Murray Cod and a Golden Perch they had caught. Unfortunately, there is more carp than other species.
[edit: and there is a boat ramp down near the bridge - see photo]
Here are some photos.
Cheers - John
