3 cats

going to start traveling hopefully next year  have started the 3 cats wearing    harnesses already  ( not happy at all ) so they will be use to them but not sure that it will be practical  to do so  ( travel that is )  with them

they  will be in the car when travelling  and in the van when parked  but one of them is a big climber up the flyscreens in the house  and am worried that if this happens in the van they will pull down the screens and  escape from the parked van when i am not there

they are only the push in type fly screens  ( has a molded rubber strip that holds screen to window frame )

so curious if anyone else has had that problem ?  and their solution

also how do you mange litter  trays  etc  ( dont think i want one in the car when traveling ) but then how often do you stop for them ? and will cats go when on a lead ?

they are very curious  about the van  always in it when i am working on it and love climbing up looking out the pop top windows !

Hi David, Can't help regarding the fly screens or travelling with a cat, but can say cats will "go" when on the lead. When the Black Saturday fires came through we evacuated to Yea and parked our van in the Yea Van Park with our cat and dog. The cat slept in the shower recess and when she needed to go out I put the dog's collar and lead on her (small dog, so a good fit) and took her outside. It took a little while - I had to walk around with her until she found a spot she liked, then no problem. Enjoy your travels. Brenda.

a couple that I house and cat sit for have 3 cats all ex shed cats from their farm, the cats took to caravanning like ducks to water.....they only ever let them out of the 'van if entirely safe location and one at a time...
I think their cats travelled in the caravan, in their beds.
Another couple I met travelling with their cats had made a cage/playpen that attached to one of the 'van windows and then down onto the ground with a tunnel etc around to the next window, but it all came to bits and packed up small....!

Hi , we solved the cat climbing the flyscreen problem by buying a claw trimmer from the vet and keeping her claws short and smooth .

Nit always easy to keep her still while the claws are trimmed but its worth the effort.
