Leaking roof - Winnebago Esperance

We have an intermittent leaking roof.  Leaks appear around the air conditioning unit and the sky light areas though not all the time no.  Can anyone suggest a solution or experienced similar problems or suggest a reputable EPDM roof repairer in Sydney?.  Thanks

We have a Winnebago Explorer I believe has similar hatch. The problem with mine was the original installation. From inside when you take off the trims and remove internal fittings (not hard, just screws) you will find the screws holding the top section down. The correct method of securing is using 3/32 threaded bolts. Winnebago in their wisdom use tek screws that are too short (would have busted up the plastic if longer), which is fortunate because only 3 of the 16 actually attached at all to top section (albiet by only 1 thread) therefore not damaging the internal threads. Because of the thickness of the roof I was not able to obtain off the shelf bolts to do the job. I purchased a length of rod, cut to length and used a dome nuts to fix in place. It all works and water proof now. I have no idea how the hatch stayed in place, obviously only the stickyness of the foam sealing tape that actually held hatch in place  for 5 years.

Good luck

Neil

my concern would be if they would repair any better than the original build. By the way, Winnebago aren't the only company that don't instal things according to instructions.

I've had my Avida back to them 5 times to fix a leak and other poor workmanship under warranty - they take weeks and it comes back still leaking

Is it condensation from unit ? There is a rubber paint which can apply to keep EPDM in top condition..
Check YouTube ... But the rubber must be sealed first .. Water leaks can be pita to find and cure ..

Hi you have tacked on to the end of a very old thread.

You may get a better response if you start a new topic

If it's a Winnebago Esperance it is at least 5/6 years old..

I would suggest you take it to a good repair centre and have all your roof sealants checked.

Get Similar colour Sikoflex and go around joints . It self levels, seals . Put it over screws etc . Dont worry it doesnt look ugly ! Cant be seen . Then paint area for better UV protection .,
