Price of Cars V Caravans

I am sure that like me you have noticed the enormous amount of advertising that the car industry is throwing at us re price and their extended warranties. Back in 2000 a new Nissan Pulsar was $19990. Today similar or perhaps even better vehicles are selling for around the same price. One can only hope that we will receive better deals from our caravan manufactures.

I hope that the Admin folks will not ban my next comment:-  I don't believe that it is political.

But with the Australian car manufacturing industry about to cease, one wonders if there will still be a Luxury Tax on such vehicles as Mercedes etc. After all there will be no need to protect the local industry. Plus all motor vehicles will then be imported.

Just wondering.

I reckon that the luxury tax will stay to protect what's left of the Aussie motor industry. The only change to the current situation is that there will be no Commodore or Falcon. Holden will still be importing cars built by Daewoo (General Motors Korea), sticking a Lion badge on & calling them Aussie Holden vehicles. They've been doing it for many years, same goes for Ford. Caravan prices will continue to rise as more & more of us ''baby boomers'' retire demanding more luxury vans to impress other folk when we go ''Glamping''.relax.gifrelax.gif

I agree a new van is a collection of flat packs and walls made of cool room plastic so why is it they can cost more than the best on the market tugs . I would like the NSW state govt to justify the cost of putting one on the road Rego , St 10 grand stamp duty and insurances when you order one put aside another lazy $5000,00 to cover getting to your first night away
