One becomes Two

OK, I thought I would like to start a new line of comments about how couples got started. There must be a lot of Funny, Lucky, Flooky and Strange stories out there. I will start the ball rolling and see what happens.

#####################################

I was 14 at the time and waiting for the Scarborough Bus at a stop in Innaloo WA about 7 or 8 am one morning. I said to may mate Don, "Who is that gorgeous chick over there"? He said "That is Les's sister". I said, "WOW, she is going to be mine".

A couple of nights later ( Frid 7th May 1954 ), at the Fiesta Picture Theatre in Scarborough, I was on the top floor and Val and her friend Jill were on the bottom floor. I started rolling up Fantail Lolly Papers and dropping them over the balcony and managed to get a couple to find my target. At Interval I walked over to Val and Jill and said, "Sorry about the lolly papers, they slipped". 6 years and 2 months latter, we got married. Today I am still the slave 55 years latter, and as happy as pie.

#####################################

That is a start, and I am sure there are some entertaining experiences out there to make our day.

I was 20 years old & had bought a double ticket to my works Annual Gala Ball. I didn't have anyone to take so a few weeks before the Ball I went to Power House near Albert Park Lake Melbourne to chat someone up. Power House was basically a boy meets girl pickup venue with a big dance floor & live music. I cruised around looking at what was on offer, then decided to ask a girl with an interesting (different) hairdo to dance. She seemed a bit aloof at first but slowly seemed to enjoy my company as we stood on the balcony chatting, looking out over the lake. Basically we were both very shy. I asked her to a movie the next week & then the Ball. 45 years later & we're still having a BALL. LOL.

We met in high school. Got married when we were 20, much to both parents dismay and horror who predicted it would end in tears, have now been married 45 years (probably because we are both stubborn and refused to let them say I told you so!!)

Been working up bush away from my coastal city area when I received a request from a friend to escot her to a formal function, needing a break, home I went. Enjoyed the formal and was organising my return to the bush, when by chance I bumped into a old school friend who invited me to party that I did not really want to attend  (drink was not my scene or young adult parties) I really liked bush people better life for this 20 year old was pretty good, free and no ties.

To the party I went as I walked in the door a young lady grabbed my arm, hey I am going to dance with you, didn't let go all night, I really did not want her to let go anyway, changed my life for ever, married 3 odd years later, enjoying our retirement together 45 years later.

I wished my school friend happy birthday today, not a close friend but a friend regardless. Radar

I got ambushed by a hot red head.

I was just an innercent lad going about my own business. I brought my first house in Westmead in Sydney. Very proud I was at 26. I worked around the clock fixing my castle up, when I got a knock on the door 1983, yes what do you want. Your house! Where building units on your and your neigbours properties. Sorry, covered in paint not for sale. closed the door. Knock Knock opened the door, read my lips. A cheque pushed into my face with a voice saying read....... Where do I sign.

I moved back to where I had grown up with my 8 older siblings.

I was doing a house mind, fixing up the property for the owners in return for cheap rent, while looking for my next home for six months.

One Friday afternoon I got bundled up by a very loud red head  who jumped the fence while I was working on this house. What are you doing, No one lives here who are you. I will call the police. Go way I said.

Two weeks later she's back. Im still here, have you cooled offfffff. We had small chit chat and I took my chance, and asked if she would mind clearing my letter box while I am away for two weeks.

When I returned I did the right thing and gave her a box of small Cadbury Roses as a thankyou.

The next week she's back again Hi there. Would you. ME, like to go to a dance social in Chatswood next Satuday night lots of girls she says. Yer why not I said.

Cut a long story short, there were eight on each table me and seven females on our table, and this red head had me seated on the end.

I never got near any of the other girls that night for a dance. And we have been hitched now for 30 years. and 2 kids.

And yes, she is still a hot red head.

However She is now called Lambie. Every where I go she's right behind me. Love her to bits.

Jim
