Seeing as things have recently been described as ''dull & boring'' on the Forum, I thought that I'd start a thread that people can contribute to describing one or more of their best ''life experiences''. Here's one of mine.
When we were in the UK about 8 years ago we stayed in London for a week. One day we went to the Hard Rock Cafe for lunch. I've been playing the guitar since the mid 1960's & still do. I was admiring some of the famous artists guitars hanging on the walls when a senior staff member asked me if I would like to see something special. He took us down a narrow staircase, through a barred security door & into an underground vault. There were guitars all around on stands with security devices attached to each one of them. There was lots of other music memorabilia around as well. He asked me if I would like to play any of them, he would take the security device off the ones I chose. It was like visiting the holy grail for me! I chose to play Jimi Hendrix's Gibson Flying V guitar sitting on HIS couch! Beside me on a side table was a framed photo of Jimi playing the exact guitar I was. I also played Eric Clapton's Fender Stratocaster as well as a few others. I DIDN'T WANT TO WASH MY HANDS FOR A WEEK! One of the most enjoyable experiences of my life! Too anyone who plays guitar, a fabulous opportunity, I still can't work out why he chose me?
Over to you.

Our land abounds in Natures gifts. Of beauty rich and rare.
I was extremely lucky to work for the Outward Bound group in the UK. We were based on Drake's Island in Plymouth Sound in the UK.
I taught Sailing, Canoeing, Abseiling/Rock Climbing. A great life meeting some great people.
The name I want to drop is the name Peter Cadbury of the Chocolate Family.
We were all told that his sponsorship was a personal thing and never to be divulged.
The guy has long passed so I think dropping his name now won't be a bad thing.
Peter Cadbury bought hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of Equipment for us. Canoes, sailboats, Kayaks , A 30' Diesel passenger vessel to transport students to the Island. Tender vessels to be safety vessels when teaching sailing. Rope equipment and all the anciliary stuff associated with climbing and a 4x4 to take students to the rock climbing sites.
All up, a lot of his own money to aid the Outward bound students. Never wanted it made public. A real philanthropist. A nice guy who put something back.
Nothing as exciting as ou guys, but my first sight of Uluru was breathtaking, tears sprang to my eyes, I had wanted to go there for so long, and now here I was. Yes, we climbed it, and I am happy we did. Since then have ridden my bike around it as well.

Having the Soweto Gospel Choir at home for a BBQ during their first Aust tour. Our dear friend was the costume manger for the tour and I convinced her to bring them to our house during their Coffs stay for a BBQ. What a night, they arrived by bus at around 7.00pm singing at the top of their voices. After the dinner we all went down to the pool room and they started to play cd's from my collection, Van Morrison etc. then they discovered Fats Domino, can you imagine 26 choir members all sing along with Fats, unbelievable.
Being Gospel I was handing out fruit punch and lemonade etc until one of the group asked, "you have vb?" Well, 3 cartons of VB, plus port, red wine and rum the night just went off! We had neighbours hanging over their balconies singing along, it was just the most unbelievable night I've ever had. Very special photos, very special memories.
I guess one of my mind blowing experiences that spring to mind was when I was over the earth in a Boeing 747. I told the Air hostie that I worked for an airline, and would be able to visit the ****pit. A few moments later it was would you follow me sir. I don't know how may people on here have seen the view of earth 40,000 ft. up there. The front of the aircraft angles down at a fairly steep angle, and you feel as though you are standing right on the edge. Awesome experience. Ah yes I did get to meet the crew.
A few years ago while fishing on a beach north of the Blow Holes Carnarvon, I jagged about a 4 Ft Black Tip shark. With it on the beach on the edge of the surf and getting my hooks rig out and my wife beside me suddenly said "LOOK", and 2 babies popped out and swam away. A rare experience. I let the Mother go as well but doubt they ever caught up. Simmo.

Same here with this one jules47, I've seen it on TV and pictures in mags etc but none of these come anywhere near as seeing Ayres Rock as it sits above a flat landscape in all its spectacular glory.
