Hi all,

We saw a new offering from Optus today.

If you have an existing Smart phone, it can now fit into an Optus case that fits in your hand That turns into a FULL SAT Phone for $15 per month = $180 per year call any where any time.

It been advertised on the TV this afternoon. smilesmilesmilesmilesmilesmilesmilesmilesmile great for outback travel and the boat.

Regards Jim

PS:  Lambie says its A Telstra product. I think It was Optus.

Could have done with one a few years back when both rear tyres blew out on motorhome ..
One nice part is we had a good bed to sleep in..

Sounds like a new product that I would like to know a bit more about.

Namely:

- power / antenna output

-  cost per minute

-  any network "gaps" (one operator had a hugh gap in coverage West/NW of Alice for years)  the low orbit ones

Wow $999 plus $15 per month and 99c per minute you may as well buy a dedicated satphone with BIG antenna and heaps of power output IMHO.

As someone who used to use them for work across the NT they can be a godsend,,, like when you are stranded at a bush airstrip and they forgot to pick you up.
