Nyah Recreation Reserve is situated at the Nyah Trotting Track and sports complex on River Road, which not surprisingly is in Nyah.
Camps 8 VIC site 308 - GPS 35 10 18 S 143 22 53 E
This camp is well known to travellers - but I thought I would put up some 'today' information and photos for those who may not have had the pleasure of spending a day or two here.
There are flushing toilets, potable water, a dump point, good internet/mobile coverage with a 7-day limit for camping.
I am not sure when it was introduced as I normally camp on the far side (eastern side) of the trotting track next to the river - this is my first time camped at the "main" camp area. However, there are now grey water restrictions at the campground ... although of the eight vans and two motorhomes here on my first night, all except the two motorhomes and one van had their sullage hoses out and grey water on the ground. The 'local caretaker' who wanders around chatting (and telling people where to camp ) seemed to not be particularly interested in 'policing' the limitation. Most newer campers when they arrive also seem to not acknowledge the restriction when they have set up.
It is a popular venue which is obvious from about 2pm onwards as the travellers begin to arrive to set-up ... good for either for an overnighter or to stay for a few days.
Very nice place but be aware of parking under the trees
There are signs mentioning that the limbs on these trees can drop at any time, looking closely there are plenty of cracks in the trees From memory a local said that a limb fell a few weeks previously
It is a large area but I managed to pick up, all the rubbish which I spotted Also from memory, there was not much rubbish, perhaps a picker had been there before me
Sad to say that the male toilet doors have been vandalised Sadder to say that when I went to give a donation, I heard all my $2 coins hitting the bottom of the tin
There is another post about Nyah, perhaps someone who knows how, can join the posts
