Pending NBN

we are about to get wireless NBN in the next month

What are the good value deals out there?

Is Voip worth considering rather than landline?

Hi Allany,

We have NBN fixed wireless here in south Tassie & use iinet 250gig $75p/m  including voip . We only chose iinet because at the time there were few options available  here & they offered the best deal but  we have been extremely happy with their service. I think if you Google NBN fixed wireless plans you will find many options are now available to chose from but unfortunately NBN Fibre plans offer better value but at least our NBN fixed wireless is far superior to our old satellite service.

Our voip is fine with free calls to other Australian fixed numbers but with charges to mobiles. We use our mobiles to call other mobiles as the cost is cheaper than iinet voip. Be aware that  if there is a power outage you lose voip.

Daivd.

Thanks David
I was also looking at iinet or westnet (same company these days)
My son is an it manager and he recommends iinet as the best
Voip is my only concern as I don't have mobile service

Allan

Hi again Allanny,

Our voip (netphone) is fine & clear & our iinet plan offers:    free local calls,   free calls to other netphones,   free standard national calls   but mobile calls are charged @ .29c per minute (you would need to check your current phone account provider to see what you current calls to mobiles are charged at). The reason I said we use our mobiles to call other mobiles instead of using voip is that they  are charged at .15c per minute on our Telstra $30 for 60days recharge accounts. (you can see my penny pinching retired accountants brain still tries to work sometimes lol).

Your only problem  with voip without having a mobile you need to consider is that you lose voip connection with a power or internet provider outage.

David.

TPG acquired iiNet in August, and iiNet acquired Internode, OzEmail and many other ISPs in years past.
