OK, I will say at the start that I know most people in here are experienced Caravaners, and have their own little tricks. This is directed at people just starting the Grey Nomad life style. We had 6 plus different caravans over 32 years, and for each one I had a check list which was printed and laminated and stored somewhere near the table or fridge. It was the last thing I looked at before getting behind the wheel.
Today, every 2nd house has a Printer and Laminator, so it shouldn't be hard to do, and the day will come where you will say, "Thank **** I made that list up". After living in a Caravan park for 16 years, I have seen more than one drive off with the power cords till connected. You can make it all different colours and font sizes to give it your personal touch.
It usually looked something like this, and each individual will have his own style.
Spot on simmo we have a list a bit longer than that but with the same items with out a list you do tend to forget the little items. Once fully packed ready to leave we pull forward about two lengths then get out and do a full clean up and final visual check. then drive off at the first turn a fing door or draw pinggg oh sh stop and lock draw cheers
We've had one for years, use it daily. A bit more comprehensive than yours though.
Things like:
AWNING LOCKED INTO TRAVEL MODE.
NO LOOSE ITEMS INSIDE VAN.
SULLAGE HOSE REMOVED.
BOTH VAN PLUGS ATTACHED TO CAR.
CHAINS & BOW SHACKLES DONE UP.
CHECK TAIL LIGHTS ARE WORKING
CHECK ELECTRIC BRAKE CONTROLLER IS WORKING.
etc. etc
Doesn't everyone have a list?

HaHa Troopy - Ive seen a few vans start to drive off with the legs down and everyone else shouting, waving and tooting at them. One couple thought we were beinf extre friendly and waved back furiously and one of us had to give chase down the road and stop them.
The other seems to be power cords - people get all the other things right and leave the power plugged in till the last minute for the fridge. I saw one pull out once - from the van end and glad I wasn't near it as it whipped out through the air and would have down some serious damage to a face if the plug had made contact.
We don't use a check list, but have a routine. I do the outside and the BOSS does the inside. After we've down it all, we check the van tail lights and then I get out and slowly walk around the van about 4-5 metres away so I can get a look at the lot - is the van and ute level, TV aerial down, blah, blah. I then have a close look at the chains and electrical connectors, tow ball, gas is off (apparently illegal to tow with gas cylinder on). I then do an internal check.
At the 1st rest or off road pull over area (about 15 mins) we stop and we do a quick visual again. I do my walkaround and the wife has a quick look inside to make sure the Anderson plug is running the fridge and nothing has fallen over etc. I usually use an infra-red heat gun to check the 8 wheels on the van and ute to make sure there are no problems

Well 03_Troopy, You did say, "we thought it was going to be a sex instruction video". Thinking about what I did write, I have to say there was subtle difference, and I really don't won't to get booted out of here, so it might have to be a Mr Google job.
Cheers.....Simmo.
