Last week we stayed at the lovely campground near the mouth of the Fitzroy River on Victoria's South-West coast. Last year when we were there it was spick & span but it has now become a disaster area with overflowing rubbish bins, unmowed grass & unclean toilets.
A large sign has been erected on the toilets asking people not to empty their cassettes into the Rota-Loo as it upsets its function. We stayed 2 nights & took our rubbish with us. It's very disappointing to see a beautiful camp degenerate into a filthy mess like this .
Hopefully somethings done soon. There was no-one around to collect the $5 per night fee either.
I read your post. That's not good, do you think it may be just a one of that the bin hasn't been emptied, or has it been a while. Who would you contact to notify them of a problem. cheers
When we were there a few years ago the chap that came around to collect the $5 was a local farmer and he said there were a group of them who looked after the area eg mowing cleaning etc but maybe they have got sick of how some people treat their generosity
this sounds so familiar - generous local people decide to do a great thing (or even to help the local shops) and give their time up - unpaid - and then some nomads and other travelers do this and spoil it for the rest.
Do these dirty people never intend to come back to a location like this ever again, so they don't care how filthy they are and leave the place in?

The amazing things you see when nomading Australia
How many times do ya see this ,We've seen far to many great camp sites closed down because grubs can't take their rubbish with them,we've taken other grubs rubbish with us because we don't want to lose another good spot,as always it's the few that ruin it for the many.
Had me whinge .feel better now
There's no garbage collection service where I live so I take mine to the tip....................I've camped at free areas where there are garbage bins and noticed that they are overflowing because the locals bring their bags of garbage instead of paying at the tip. If you say anything they reckon they shouldn't have to pay to dispose of their garbage, but I know from experience that when you live in a place where there is a collection service you have to pay for it. I'm happy that the council doesn't collect garbage at my home because it is much cheaper for me to take it to the tip when necessary that to pay for the bin service, but it seems some people want two bites of the cherry an don't mind shifting the blame to travellers
