CAMEC door turning inside out

Has anybody else had trouble with CAMEC doors turning themselves inside out? Our door consistently goes inside the caravan, and it has triple point locking which doesn't work. The caravan is only just over one year old. We're going to attempt to get it fixed in Perth, but until then, I sleep with a light on and one eye open.

Hi there Fuzzball :)

We had this happen to us in our van, I can only suggest that you pack out the three locking points so that that the door can't go past them.

That happens when the door frame is fitted into an opening that is too wide. They pull the sides of the frame out to attach to the hole in the wall. How big are the gaps in the mitred corners? I have one at the top that has a horizontal gap of 2 mm and the top of the door will go in past the top lock striker if you push it too high up when closing it. It goes back for a reinstall shortly.

but until then, I sleep with a light on and one eye open.

If you snib the door they will make a lot of noise to force their way through the door.

I would not be touching the strikers. The opening in the van needs packing out to close the door frame up to the door.

The problem with the door is that it's too small for the frame. The door frame is 605 mm inside and the door is only 590 wide. The striker plates would have to be packed out 15mm. When the door is closed it only catches by about 2mm. Also the inner door is too high to fit in the outer door. It's 5mm higher than the outer door cover. So it only locks on the centre lock instead of all 3 locks. When we get to Perth I'm going to see Camec.

Had exactly the same problem in a previous lemon, door cut out was too wide, frame screwed in pulled it away from the strikers, not only did it come inside it also used to fly open while traveling !

Our dealer in Perth couldn't fix it, as they reckoned it needed a new side with the right sized hole for the door, the Cambelfield manufacturer didn't want to know, we traded the 18 month old, $75K heap of **** quick smart.
