Hi just joined so forgive me if I'm in the wrong section, I intend to buy the above which looks in very good condition and had one owner, I don't know much about this game (Yet) but will figure it out as I go, any comments on this unit it is set up with single beds 240V and 12V power, I was more wondering how they tow, are they reasonably good and comments at all really, good or bad. I can have it for $10,500 which unfortunately is my very limited budget.
Howdy Clays, Welcome to the Forum, First off, can you give us some idea as to the year of your preposed purchase ?
I ask this as I have spent many years in caravans, the last 10 was in the hire game, some of the early Winsor's had problems with earthing on the 12v side because of their construction design.
One thing to look closely at is the aluminium cladding above the door, this being the weakest part of any Pop Top, If there are signs of separation in the joints on either side of the door, it's a good indication that the van jas had a hard life and travelled on un-sealed roads,
If you could post a picture of this Windsor in the subsection, of the general section = Called Show us your Rig, I will have a look at it and make a comment then.
Cheers, K.J.

Thanks for the reply, it is a 1999 model that a couple owned and had it out twice in all that time, one trip to Harvey Bay and the other to Echuca, I can't get a picture for a few more days but will do my best as you say, I just wanted general comments like you made, any good, no good, tow ok and so on,,will do the photo asap.
If it is a 99 model and used twice ? then it must look and be like new, ? in the late 80s and the 90s there was a lot of windcheaters around and they seemed to be popular and reliable, there are still heaps of them running around today, ? at 1 st i thought wow $10.500 was a bit much, But not if it is as good as you say,? I have seen them around for 6 -9 Grand well used but still good and clean, ! I would go to the $10.500 if i new it was one of the best out there. Good Luck
Thanks for that Dazren, it even smelled new and clean, but I don't really know what to look for, I know things like rot give a damp smell but so do vans that haven't been opened for a while, just looks like a clean unit in very new condition, I don't understand what GURU was saying about the 12V shorting out because of the frame, but I will get my Mechanic to come before I pay for it and check maybe some of the basics, it has 2 single beds but I'm travelling on my own so its not a problem, I also want to fit an A/C to the van so no doubt they are expensive, I simply cant afford any more money. But to your point there are almost new cars out there with problems so I guess it's still luck of the draw. I will post some pics etc as GURU advised and maybe I can get a better idea.
I have an 1996 Sun Chaser which is just a bit more upmarket than the Wind Chaser they are a good all round van and I think you will be happy with your purchase.
Make sure that you put a new set of tyres on soon as you get the van as they will probably be 16 years old and definitely will need replacement.
I have never had any problems with the 12v electrics but have now replaced the power supply with a battery and charger and all the lighting is now LED.
Never had any problems towing.
I have installed a Fujisu inverter split system air con with the outside unit on the A frame and the head unit where a shelf used to be over the fridge all up cost 9 years back $1200 they are cheaper now.
Cheers
David

A few of my friends have have done the same thing Dutchy, the are so much more efficient than the old technology the put in caravans today,, And around half the cost Last year the mates Dometic spat the dummy, got quoted $2800 for Supply and install a new Ibis, as he was not happy with the dometic performace, He ended up putting in the split system for same money you paid [ $ $790 for the split system and $440 installation by an Electrician,he is as happy as that proverbial Pig ?? He has really cold Air/Con and a really warm heater, but the best bit he says is NO NOISE, ?? I almost wish my Dometic would spit the dummy ?? LOL
Yep. The Fujitsu Split unit is the bees knees. So quiet I can hardly hear it when standing next to it. It wasn't my idea or install so I can't take credit for it.
