Toyo tyres

Looking at fitting a set of Toyo Opat AT 2 tyres to my Nissan Parthfinder, anyone out there had any experience with the Toyo brand tyres, all comments appricated.

Not personally but a good mate has been using them for a number of years without any problems. He switched after continual problems with another American tyre.

I run BFG,s & would highly recommend them.

Mike.

They were excellent brand in the 70's, and never heard a bad word about them EVER.

Got four Toyo's on the rear of the truck & going well, just done 25,000kl since Dec all towing the van on a trip around the big block. Original equipment was Pirelli which all 6 fell apart at 20k.

Don't have too many issues with Jap tyres.. You can get a bad batch at times..
From any brand.. In my case every time I buy Dunlops ..
Usually tread separation!!

Tyres in my opinion are to important an item to consider anything but the best rather than a cheaper brand, I chose Yokohama and have never looked back, yes they are about $30 dearer per tyre but at 100,000 - 120,000 klms per set, well you work it out.

Toyo are one of the better brands I reckon.

I've got them on the LC now and they are way better than the Dunlops that were on it when new.

Open Country Toyo A/T. Damn good tyres.

I've been running Toyo H08's on the Transit for years, very good tyre, excellent milage and no quality issues.

Thanks for your comments, what vehicle do you have the Yokohama on and do you do a lot of towing with that sort of mileage

Another vote for Toyo Open Country AT tyres.

Have had them on the BT50 for a while now approx 10,000 k's showing little wear.

I run Bridgestones on my Iveco (Winnebago) it weighs 4.5 ton & they wear well & give a good ride. I came out of the transport industry in my working years, we used to call Dunlops, "Banglops" coz thats what they mostly did.

I'm sure others apart from me would like to know how you get this km from them? Towing? What vehicle and what GVM etc???????

Toyo was described to me once as a Japanese Michelin. They are big in truck tyres and heavy duty tyres but rarely advertise car tyres as word of mouth seems to work. Have had several sets on cars over the years. There are a lot of Indonesian tyres around now. Even some of the brand name stuff comes from there. Given Indonesia produces both rubber and petro-chemicals, they are probably cutting out the middle-man.

I used to run Yokohama Super Diggers in the NT on a Pajero for many years until they all started going out of round at about 50% wear. Dealer got sick of me coming back and started charging more and more. They were then "not available" for ages so I used Yokohama Geolanders but was disappointed with road noise levels.

Tried Coopers STC's on current LC79 Landcruiser ute towing van,,,, 60,000km was good but they worn a bit strange in hills (not towing). Coopers said get stuffed.

Now run Bridgestones all round - very happy with them.

PS As an aside we did milage tests on Yokohma 20" bus tyres down to 4 decimal places and far exceeded the competitors. Go figure.

Your right no long haul or regular towing, extra cab with fibreglass canopy & cargo drawer system. Just my opinion and I will be putting them on again.

If you really want to punish your tyres and fuel economy, run the 260kms between Wentworth and Broken Hill at 110kph on a hot day with a strong north wind. There are lots of factors effecting tyres. Probably one of the cruelest bits of road I've driven on.
