Yes I did ring Doug when we left, I was busy asking him why he had not shut the gate, when the fuel light came on!
Normally when I leave Melbourne I fill the tank, but yesterday I got lazy, and left it with about a third, planning to fill it just past Nagambie when we stop for coffee, anyway plans changed, and it did not get filled. As we were reversing at Greens I heard something pop at the back, just a twig I thought at the time.
When the fuel light came on my immediate reaction was panic, "where has all my fuel gone", then have a done some damage reversing over something.
When I explained my dilemma, the boss started laughing at me, and reminded me that I had not filled the tank that morning, been laughing ever since she has. Well almost, I let her panic for a while about would we make it to a gas station before we ran out.
I think I will get fuel leak jokes for a long time to come.
BTW the Shell servo at Byrneside (about 25k from Greens) was selling Diesel for $1.19 yesterday, everywhere else I saw was at $1.27, and they are now also open 24*7.
