WA TELSTRA MOBILE PHONE COVERAGE>

Would have to be the best we have seen in any state, right from the NT border across the top , even down through Newman & Meeka & across to Geralton, had it pretty well all the way.

agree - we went up the coast from Perth to Darwin earlier this year and couldn't believe the improvement since our 2013 trip

yep not too bad - guess that's why we pay a premium price for their service. We have both Optus and Telstra phones. Optus is pretty much nowhere outside major towns and cities - we only use them because they have cheap plans and we use up our months credit each time we can get reception.

We're at Ravensthorpe, WA, - a small gain bin and one mine community - guess theres about a 1000 people live here. G4 on both phone and 'net dongle.

We toured Wa in 2014 extensively and had great coverage, better than any other state.

i have to agree totally. We have been in WA since late July ( heading west than south ) and have had the best coverage. Only 1 or 2 nights we have had no coverage but thats been when we have free camped in the middle of nowhere. My OPTUS phone is useless except in bigger towns

The coverage is due to the number of mine sites in the state. You can be in the middle of nowhere when coverage kicks in.

There are huge areas without coverage too.
Still none in the Kimberley off highway #1, despite Kalumburu having a population of 450 residents.
And there are huge holes in the central desert areas.

Cheers,

WA is great for coverage, and it is the coverage that one can use to find camping spots. Coming across the Nullabor and in other places I have found, I will have coverage until about 5k either side of a rest area and there, there will be nothing. Caused Frangipani and I to have many laughs over this, driving along I would lose coverage, radio through to Fran that a rest area is coming up and sure enough 5k down the road it would be there. Interesting that, because if one was in distress you would think a rest area would be a more convenient spot to have coverage.

My little observation in travelling through WA.

We have Telstra Boost - price $40 per month for unlimited text, unlimited phone calls and 3 GB internet data, plus an extra 1GB internet data every Sunday. It's great, and works wherever there's Telstra!
