Stayed in the pub a few years ago. Forced to stay because of a massive deluge.Brilliant night in the pub. Had a very good night. Drank Tooheys Old on tap all night.
A good free camp on the Qld/NSW border as stated before. Photo was taken 6 weeks ago, so was very dry. Photo taken from the toilet blocks looking towards the river. Toilets, no showers or night time internal lighting. Some outside lighting, picnic table, BBQ, some trees, large area - some flat, some not. Would stay again. Would love to see the river up like in Chopit's photo.
The Free Camp is on the Qld. side of the Barwon River, the town is on the NSW side.
The town is on both sides of the river. It's the only place in Oz where that happens. All the other places have a different name for the town on each side.
There are (or were when I was last through there) two police stations there, one Qld staffed and the other NSW staffed. The shops are on the NSW side and the hospital is on the Qld side.
We stayed in the caravan park as the dunnies at the free camp were unusable at the time. The free camp looked uninviting to me, no flat area for the van and very dusty.
